Terms and Conditions
(where honesty, handshake deals, and good neighbors still matter.)
These are the rules and understandings that come with using theyukontrader.com (the “Site”) and its services:
Welcome to The Yukon Trader Agreement
This Agreement (“Agreement”) spells out the terms and conditions for accessing the services offered through theyukontrader.com.
If you don’t agree with the terms, best to hitch up your sled and head on out — you can’t use the Site or our services otherwise.
By joining The Yukon Trader, you’re agreeing to all the terms here, and anything else referenced. We may update this Agreement from time to time — we’ll post the changes right on the Site and send a heads-up to your registered email address. Changes kick in as soon as they’re posted.
This Agreement is binding as of the date you register or, for everyone else, effective from April 28, 2025 onward.
Fees and Services
Most of what you’ll do on The Yukon Trader — joining, posting, browsing — is free, just the way it should be.
But for special categories or extra features, we might ask for a small fee. (We promise it’ll be clearly posted.)
All fees are in Canadian dollars unless we say otherwise. You’re responsible for your fees — and any taxes the Mounties might ask for.
Posting or Selling
If you’re posting something for sale, you need to be ready and able to sell it — no ghost offers or missing gear.
Describe your item truthfully, include only relevant pictures and info, and post it in the right category.
If you wouldn’t sell it to your neighbor across the lake, don’t post it here.
Notifications
By signing up, you agree to receive occasional updates and announcements from The Yukon Trader.
We’ll only send you the important stuff — no endless email blizzards.
Your Information
Definition
“Your Information” means anything you share with us during registration, posting, or messaging. You’re responsible for what you post, just like you’re responsible for your dog not chasing the neighbor’s moose.
Restricted Activities
Your posts and activities must NOT:
Be false, shady, or misleading
Involve stolen or counterfeit goods
Violate any copyrights, trademarks, or other rights
Break any laws (local, territorial, federal, or otherwise)
Be harassing, threatening, obscene, or harmful to minors
Contain viruses, worms, or other nasty tech surprises
Cause us or our community any trouble, legal or otherwise
Also: no sneaky links to shady products. And don’t list anything that could get The Yukon Trader in hot water.
License
By posting content, you grant us a license to use it in line with our Privacy Policy.
This license is non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, and sublicenseable — fancy talk meaning we can use your content without paying you, but we’ll respect your rights while doing it.
Breach
If you break these rules, we can:
Remove your posts,
Warn other users,
Suspend or ban you (temporarily or permanently),
Or refuse service altogether.
We might also act if we can’t verify your information or if your behavior might cause trouble for us or the community.
Privacy
You acknowledge you’ve read our Privacy Policy, and you understand how your information is collected and used.
Keep personal details to a minimum when posting — just enough for buyers to reach you safely.
If we smell something fishy or illegal, we reserve the right to share info with the right authorities.
No Warranty
Our Site and services are provided “as is” — no pinky promises or iron-clad guarantees.
We don’t promise our website will always work perfectly, but we’ll do our darnedest to keep the gears turning.
No Liability
We’re not responsible for lost profits, damages, misadventures, or bad luck that happens while using our Site.
(If your snowmobile breaks down during a trade, that’s between you and the seller.)
Indemnity
If your actions cause trouble for The Yukon Trader (legal or otherwise), you agree to cover our costs and defend us if needed. Fair’s fair.
Legal Compliance
You agree to follow all local, territorial, and national laws while using The Yukon Trader.
We like to keep things above board — keeps the peace better than a double-wall tent in January.
No Agency
You and The Yukon Trader are independent.
You’re not our employee, partner, or anything else official — you’re just a friendly user of the site.
Resolution of Disputes
If you get into a tangle with us, we’ll try to sort it out in writing first.
We’re open to reasonable solutions — even mediation — before dragging anyone to court.
General
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Yukon Territories and Canada.
If part of this Agreement isn’t enforceable, the rest still stands.
We can assign this Agreement to another company if needed.
Section titles are just for easy reading — they don’t change the meaning.
Our decision not to immediately act on a breach doesn’t mean we approve it.
Some sections survive even if your use of the Site ends (like fees, licenses, warranties, liabilities, indemnity, and dispute resolution).
Contracts in English
This Agreement is written in English.
Any disagreements are handled under Canadian and Yukon law.
If you have an issue with another user, report it to us — and if needed, to local authorities or mediation services.
Thanks for being part of The Yukon Trader.
Trade fair. Trade smart. And keep the northern spirit alive.
